Obama: If I Had a City, It Would Look Like Detroit

In my blog post Detroit, Obama and African American Failure, I detail how the combination of 'progressive' liberal Democrats, the failure of US automakers, the big labor unions, the decay/collapse of African American 'culture', and the corruption of the local (black) politicians have resulted in the burned-out hulk known as Detroit.

Democrats and Obama are all about uncontrolled spending, huge debt, unsustainable entitlements, public employee unions and big government.  It will bring America down just as it has in Detroit.

And don't rationalize and blame Detroit's decline just on the decline of the automakers either.  Pittsburgh also suffered the same 55% population decline as Detroit with the complete loss of steel making.  And Detroit didn't completely lose the automakers and 'benefited' from a recent auto bailout. 
But Pittsburgh bounced back and is voted one of the best cities in which to live.  From that blog post:

... there are other cities in the US "rust belt" that have undergone a similar decline in population and loss of jobs to Asia who are not devastated.  Instead, with more balanced leadership, other areas have "adjusted" and have either prospered or at least did not slide into a horrifying decay like Detroit.   Pittsburgh is a good example.  They completely lost the Steel industry but is today is voted one of the best places to live.

Detroit's population has shrunk from 1.8 million in 1950 to an estimated 800,000 today (55% reduction).  Pittsburgh population also shrank by 55% from 670,000 in 1950 to 300,000 in 2010.

The big difference is that Pittsburgh is 90% white and Detroit is 82% black.  Black people ruined Detroit; black people and the politicians that pander to them.

 I was reading a good article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about Detroit and I noticed a particularly good comment from a John Brown living in Managua, Nicaragua:  

51 YEARS! That is how long its been since Detroit had a Republican Mayor. It was in 1962, the last Republican left office as Mayor of Detroit when the Population was 1.8 Million and it was one of, if not the richest city in the nation. Since 1962 every Mayor of Detroit has been a left wing, liberal, big Government, Democrat in a totally corrupt alliance with the Unions. Since 1962 you can see Detroit's population and prospects under Democrat Mayor after Democrat Mayor {and all African American mayors after 1974] dropping like a rock. 51 years of Democrat Mayors and the population went from 1.8 million to 600,000 and so much DEBT it will never pay it back. If anyone is going to bail out 'Destroit' maybe it should be a coalition of left wing Democrat states like CA and IL that are following exactly the same corrupt politics and have the exact same corrupt alliance with the Unions. Let left wing Democrats put together a bailout. The Federal Government under the corrupt Obama regime which is now following the policies that destroyed Detroit can't afford it, and voters and states where they don't follow left wing democrat nightmare policies should have to pay for 51 years of Democrat/Unions corruption and insanity.

Well said John Brown.  Although both parties have presided over our nation's decline, it is the decline under Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, that our decline is going 'exponential'.  Am I unfair?
