Bill Maher slams media for ignoring killings of Christians in Nigeria. Maher made the remarks during a panel discussion with Representative Nancy Mace, who raised concerns that the crisis in Nigeria has received little attention in the US.

“Well, because the Jews aren’t involved. That’s why,” Maher replied. “It’s the Christians and the Muslims — who cares?

On Friday’s “Real Time” show, Bill Maher criticized the lack of media coverage over the ongoing killings of Christians in Nigeria, arguing that the issue has been neglected because “the Jews aren’t involved.”

Maher made the remarks during a panel discussion with Representative Nancy Mace, who raised concerns that the crisis in Nigeria has received little attention in the US.

“Well, because the Jews aren’t involved. That’s why,” Maher replied. “It’s the Christians and the Muslims — who cares?” He went on to accuse Islamist group Boko Haram of “literally attempting to wipe out the Christian population of an entire country.”

“Where are the kids protesting this?” Maher said, referencing the ongoing anti-Israel protests across the US for the past two years.

“They are systematically killing the Christians in Nigeria. They’ve killed over 100,000 since 2009. They’ve burned 18,000 churches. This is so much more. These are the Islamists, Boko Haram. This is so much more of a genocide attempt than what is going on in Gaza,” he continued.

Maher added that if Americans have not heard about the violence in Nigeria, then their “media sources suck.”

“You are in a bubble,” he said.

According to the UK division of Open Doors, a global Christian charity, the crisis in Nigeria poses a significant threat to peace and stability in the region. The group told Fox News that, “Around 150,000 people have been killed in jihadist violence over the last 10 years. Over 16 million Christians have been driven from their homes and their land across the region.”

According to the organization’s data, more Christians are killed for their religion in Nigeria than in the rest of the world combined. In August, the White House said it is working with the State Department to develop strategies to address the crisis.
